Privacy Policy

Ask Bishop ("the app", "we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
- Account information — If you sign in, we collect your email address and display name via Firebase Authentication (Google or Apple Sign-In, or email/password).
- Study data — Bible highlights, notes, bookmarks, journal entries, prayer list items, and Q&A history you create in the app. This data is stored locally on your device. If you are a Premium subscriber, it is also synced to your private Firestore database.
- Purchase information — Subscription status is managed by Apple (via In-App Purchase) and RevenueCat. We receive confirmation of your subscription tier but do not receive or store payment card details.
- Usage data — Basic, anonymous usage information may be collected to improve the app. We do not use advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking.
How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate your account and sync your study data across devices (Premium).
- To determine your subscription tier and unlock Premium features.
- To respond to support requests if you contact us.
- To improve the app based on aggregate, anonymized usage patterns.
AI Features
Ask Bishop uses the Anthropic Claude API to power AI Q&A, devotional generation, journal prompts, and prayer writing. Your queries and responses are transmitted to Anthropic's servers in real time. Anthropic may use queries for service improvement and training purposes, subject to their Privacy Policy. We do not store your queries on our servers unless you save them to your journal or Q&A history. For details, see Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Third-Party Services
- Firebase (Google) — Authentication and optional cloud sync. Firebase Privacy.
- RevenueCat — Subscription management. RevenueCat Privacy.
- Apple In-App Purchase — Payment processing for subscriptions on iOS.
- Anthropic Claude API — AI response generation.
- bible.org / API.Bible — Scripture text retrieval.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Data is shared only with the service providers listed above, solely to operate the app.
Data Retention & Deletion
Your locally stored study data remains on your device until you delete the app. Cloud-synced data (Premium) is stored in your Firebase account. You can delete your account and all associated data directly within the app: go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. Your data will be permanently removed immediately. Children's Privacy
Ask Bishop is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Security
We use industry-standard security practices including Firebase Authentication, HTTPS-only data transmission, and no storage of payment credentials. No system is perfectly secure; we encourage you to use a strong password and protect your device.
Code Quality
Ask Bishop's codebase is continuously analyzed by SonarQube Cloud for security vulnerabilities, reliability issues, and code quality. All AI-assisted code meets the SonarQube AI Code Assurance standard — independently verified to quality and security benchmarks.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time directly in the app: go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. For any other requests, contact us at the address below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
